Atticus's teacher said that when she asks the kids to help clean up, Atticus is the only one to volunteer. Then she'll often say something to him about how the other kids aren't helping, and he responds by shouting, "Clean up!" and they all obey him.

She's also told me about how annoyed he looks when other kids are whining and crying.

I neglected to pack a morning snack the other day for our drive to school (it seems ridiculous that I should ever need to pack one considering it's a 10-minute car ride and we often eat breakfast just before leaving the house, but no matter), and Atticus said he was hungry; so I dug into my lunch and gave him my cheese stick. He gobbled that up and asked for more food, so I offered him my apple. He said he'd like it. As I was looking for the apple, I joked about how he was eating all my food and that I wouldn't have any lunch. His face became sort of stricken, and he refused the apple. He said "No, that's mama's apple." I tried to reassure him that I'd been kidding and that I was happy to give it to him, but he wouldn't take it.

He's been helping so much with cooking and chores. At his suggestion we made buckwheat breakfast cake two days in a row last week. He also helped me make ratatouille last weekend and pumpkin muffins last night.

beautiful cloudy morning at the botanical gardens

Atticus attended his first Music and Movement class on Friday. They played balance games. Atticus said he had fun with Jason, the other boy in the class.
